Project: Rowayton2, Connecticut A home away from home where this family spend their holidays and quality time away from their apartment in Manhattan.
The interior design for this 5 bedroom home began with some changes to the layout and decisions made regarding the less conventional use of each space focused on emphasizing how this family truly lives while on holiday.
Out went the traditional Dining Room, which we transformed into the “above ground Man Cave” filled with large screens, games table and desk and new custom barn doors to allow for a little more privacy when needed. A baseball enthusiast we added some of the husbands favorite art pieces, framed and created a gallery wall of signed memorabilia that allowed him to feel right at home while staying classy and clean. The bonus.. It already was next to our Bar so that just made it a Win-Win for all.
Grasscloth and freshly painted stairs were topped off by a fabulous sparkle piece of art featuring a Shark.. We wanted to ensure we added personal touches and humor throughout the spaces. Closing off the secondary living space allowed for a functional additional TV Space and still serves for a place for the kids to hang out while everyone is downstairs.
An open plan kitchen into the main living room and open to the backyard on those warm summer days is perfect. The bedrooms upstairs allow for privacy for all and highlight both the son and daughters love of color. Wallpapers and custom hand painted murals are the way we individualized each space.
On the third floor we bought a large ball pit and vintage Milo Baughman sectional found at Brimfield for the kids to have all their friends over, without any interruption from the parents while they take cover from the summer sun and time away from the beach only blocks away.
